Week 6- Dear AP Psych Student,



Dear future AP Psych kid,

Some advice I have for you is to do every single vocab list and to do any extra credit or mind maps. The one time I didn't do the mind map I completely bombed the test so... And doing EC can bump you 5-10 points which adds up to a lot. My favorite activity probably had to be watching the documentaries in class because I found it interesting when they delved into rare psychological problems/abilities people had. The one thing I wish Ms. Halfen would leave out next year is content digs because I rushed so much on them I wasn't focusing so much on the content rather than copying down anything to make it look complete. Next year, I would also recommend an emphasis on vocab by making them individual grades separate from test grades because I felt that the entire AP was basically just vocab. I might also emphasize people and types of psychology a little more because that was personally my weakest point. Good luck kiddos!

Humanmetrics Jung Typology Test This test was meant to determine your 4 letter personality type based on Carl Jung's and Myers-Briggs research. Many of the questions were obviously geared to test your introvertedness/extrovertedness, whether you used a logical way of thinking or emotions to guide your actions, or if you have a flexible thought process. I got ISFJ (19%, 1%, 22%, 6%) I had a slight preference of introversion, feeling, and judging, and marginal or no preference of sensing over intuition. Week 3: Ethnicity's Role in Psychology

A social issue that has become an important point of discussion in today's world is the idea of racial equity. Movements like Black Lives Matter and DACA have risen up to combat the injustice of racism in American society. Stereotypes are formed in our minds all the time, and they may not all be bad until these generalizations also make them biased. However, having implicit biases may lead to discrimination in some cases, even if people aren't aware of it.  There are also perceptual illusions like when white subjects perceive black faces as angrier than white faces with the same expression, see harmless objects as weapons when they are in the hands of black men, dislike abstract images that are paired with black faces, and link bad words paired with black faces than white faces.  Field experiments demonstrate that real-world discrimination is still widespread. White applicants get about 50 percent more call-backs than black applicants with the same resumes...
